What is Lichen Planus?

Lichen planus is an immune-mediated chronic condition of the skin, characterized by inflammation of the skin and the presence of small to large bumps on the skin. These bumps may further grow into scaly patches on the skin. Oral Lichen planus is a severely discomforting condition in which the oral cavity, that is, the mouth and the tongue, are affected.

The problem may start as small lesions on the skin or mucosal (OLP) surfaces. Commonly affected parts are the limbs and the mouth in the case of oral Lichen Planus. But the patient may feel a burning sensation and pain in the affected part.
