Abstract
Leucoderma refers to the development of lighter or white patches on the skin. These patches may initially appear in a limited area and can gradually become more noticeable or extend to surrounding areas of the body.

This case study documents the healing of a 39-year-old Indian housewife who developed white spots of leucoderma around four years ago. The problem started on the forehead, with gradual involvement of larger areas of the face, around the lips, and both hands during the following year.

The patient started conventional treatment soon after noticing the initial spots and continued it for approximately one year. However, she reported no significant improvement during this period. She subsequently opted for individualized homeopathic treatment at Dr. Singhal Homeo Clinic.

The first signs of improvement were reported around the fourth month, when the affected areas began showing signs of skin-color restoration. Over the next few months, smaller patches gradually regained natural pigmentation around both the facial areas and the hands.

Over approximately 30 months of treatment, the patient reported, and Dr. Vikas Singhal physically observed, promising skin color restoration, eventually reaching approximately 99% improvement as reported by the patient and observed by the treating doctor.

Following this period, the patient continued with periodic doses for another six months to support the ongoing skin-color restoration. She is currently under a further six-month medicine-free follow-up period to monitor whether the reported improvement is sustained.

Understanding Leucoderma

Leucoderma refers to the appearance of lighter or white patches on the skin. The patches can vary in size, number, and distribution and may become more noticeable when they develop on visible areas of the body.

In the present case, the patient initially developed white spots on her forehead. During the following year, the affected areas expanded to include the region surrounding the lips and both hands.

The patient sought treatment soon after noticing the initial changes and subsequently underwent conventional treatment before consulting Dr. Vikas Singhal.

Persistent or spreading white patches on the skin should be appropriately evaluated by a qualified healthcare professional to determine their cause and appropriate management.

History of Present Illness

Ms. Divya Bhanushali first noticed white spots developing on her forehead approximately four years ago.

The initial patches were limited to the forehead but gradually expanded during the following year. The affected areas subsequently extended around the lips and to both hands.

According to the patient’s history, she started conventional treatment soon after noticing the first signs of the condition. She continued this treatment for approximately one year but reported no significant improvement in the appearance or extent of the white patches.

Following this experience, she decided to explore an alternative treatment approach and consulted Dr. Vikas Singhal at Dr. Singhal Homeo Clinic.

A detailed case assessment was conducted, following which individualized homeopathic treatment was initiated.

The patient’s progress was monitored through regular follow-ups, with particular attention given to changes in skin pigmentation, the size and appearance of the affected patches, and the restoration of natural skin color.

Presenting Complaints

At the time of consultation, the patient reported:

  • White spots initially appearing on the forehead
  • Progressive expansion of the affected areas
  • Patches extending around the lips
  • White patches involving both hands
  • Approximately one year of progression before beginning homeopathic treatment
  • Approximately one year of previous conventional treatment
  • No significant improvement reported with the previous treatment

The visible distribution and progression of the patches were considered during the overall case assessment.

Clinical Assessment at Dr. Singhal Homeo Clinic

During the initial consultation, Dr. Vikas Singhal conducted a detailed case evaluation.

The assessment considered the patient’s history, progression of the white patches, areas affected, duration of the condition, previous treatment, and the patient’s individual characteristics.

The assessment included:

  • Initial appearance of white spots on the forehead
  • Gradual expansion over approximately one year
  • Involvement of the area surrounding the lips
  • Involvement of both hands
  • Previous conventional treatment for approximately one year
  • Reported lack of significant improvement with previous treatment
  • Patient’s decision to pursue individualized homeopathic treatment

Following the detailed assessment, an individualized homeopathic treatment approach was selected.

Homeopathic Treatment Strategy

Following the case evaluation, Dr. Vikas Singhal initiated individualized homeopathic treatment based on the patient’s overall symptom profile and individual characteristics.

The progress was monitored over an extended period, with attention given to visible changes in skin pigmentation and the gradual restoration of natural skin tone.

The treatment and follow-up focused on:

  • Monitoring changes in the color of affected areas
  • Observing gradual restoration of natural skin pigmentation
  • Monitoring changes in facial patches
  • Observing pigmentation changes around the lips
  • Monitoring the response of patches on both hands
  • Assessing the progression of pigmentation over time
  • Continuing regular clinical observation
  • Monitoring whether the reported improvement could be sustained after reducing and eventually stopping medication

The patient remained under regular follow-up throughout the treatment period.

Follow-Up and Treatment Progress

First Three Months

During the first three months of individualized homeopathic treatment, no major visible improvement was reported.

The patient continued treatment and regular follow-up while the affected areas were monitored for changes in pigmentation.

Fourth Month

Around the fourth month, the first noticeable signs of improvement were observed.

The affected white patches gradually began showing signs of natural skin-color restoration.

This represented the first visible change following the initial months of treatment.

The patient continued with the prescribed treatment and regular follow-up.

Fifth to Sixth Months

Over the following two months, some of the smaller patches began showing more noticeable pigmentation changes.

A few smaller spots were reported to have regained approximately 50–60% of their original skin color.

The changes remained gradual, with pigmentation developing progressively rather than immediately.

Seventh to Twelfth Months

During the following six months, similar changes were observed across multiple affected areas.

Several patches on the face and a few patches on the hands began showing signs of natural pigmentation restoration.

The facial patches showed progressively more visible improvement, while the hands also began demonstrating a similar pattern of pigmentation recovery.

Thirteenth to Eighteenth Months

Over the next six months, the improvement became more pronounced.

The facial patches were reported and observed to have regained approximately 80–90% of their natural skin tone.

The patches on both hands also continued to show progressive restoration of pigmentation.

The patient continued regular follow-ups while the changes were monitored.

Nineteenth to Twenty-Fourth Months

During the following six months, further improvement was observed across the affected areas.

The overall pigmentation continued to become closer to the patient’s natural skin tone.

By the end of this period, the patient was reported to have achieved more than 95% improvement in the appearance of the affected areas.

Twenty-Fifth to Thirtieth Months

Over the next six months, the pigmentation continued to improve.

According to the patient’s report and Dr. Singhal’s physical observation, the affected skin areas appeared to have regained approximately 99% of their natural skin tone.

At this stage, the visible difference between the previously affected areas and the surrounding skin had become minimal according to the case record.

Medicine-Integrated Follow-Up

Following approximately 30 months of treatment, the patient remained under clinical observation for another six months, with periodic doses as advised by Dr. Vikas Singhal.

The purpose of this period was to continue monitoring the skin pigmentation and support the ongoing restoration of the natural skin tone while observing whether the improvement remained stable.

During this six-month period, the patient continued to show the reported improvement, with no significant deterioration documented in the case record.

Current Medicine-Free Follow-Up

Following the six-month period of periodic dosing, the patient entered a further six-month medicine-free follow-up period.

During this phase, no continued medication is being used, allowing the patient’s skin pigmentation to be observed without ongoing doses.

The purpose of the medicine-free follow-up is to monitor whether the reported improvement remains stable over time.

The medicine-free follow-up is currently ongoing and has not yet been completed.

Therefore, a final assessment of sustained recovery or recurrence can only be made after the planned follow-up period is completed.

Outcome of the Case

The patient reported gradual improvement following individualized homeopathic treatment, with the changes developing progressively over an extended period.

The first signs of skin-color restoration were observed around the fourth month. By the sixth month, some smaller patches had reportedly regained approximately 50–60% of their original skin color.

During the following months, pigmentation changes became visible across multiple facial patches and areas of both hands. By approximately the eighteenth month, the facial patches were reported and observed to have regained around 80–90% of their natural skin tone.

Over the following months, the improvement progressed beyond 95%, eventually reaching approximately 99% according to the patient’s report and Dr. Singhal’s physical observation.

The patient then continued with periodic doses for another six months, followed by the current six-month medicine-free follow-up period.

At present, the medicine-free follow-up remains ongoing. Therefore, the long-term stability of the reported improvement is still being monitored.

Discussion

Leucoderma can present with lighter or white patches that vary in distribution, extent, and progression. When such patches develop on visible areas such as the face, around the lips, and hands, changes in skin color can become particularly noticeable.

In the present case, the patient initially developed white spots on the forehead, which gradually expanded during the following year to involve the area around the lips and both hands.

The patient had started conventional treatment soon after the first signs appeared and continued it for approximately one year but reported no significant improvement. She subsequently consulted Dr. Vikas Singhal and opted for individualized homeopathic treatment.

The reported response was gradual rather than immediate. The first signs of skin-color restoration appeared around the fourth month. Smaller patches subsequently showed more noticeable restoration, followed by progressive changes across the face and hands.

Over approximately 30 months, the patient reported, and the treating physician observed, progressive restoration of the natural skin tone, with the improvement eventually estimated at approximately 99%.

A further six months of periodic dosing was followed by a planned six-month medicine-free observation period. The medicine-free period is currently ongoing, and its completion will provide further information regarding the stability of the reported improvement.

This case highlights the importance of individualized assessment, regular clinical observation, long-term monitoring, and documenting gradual changes in skin pigmentation over time.

Conclusion

This case describes the treatment journey of a 39-year-old Indian housewife who developed white patches initially on the forehead, followed by gradual involvement around the lips and both hands.

The patient reported no significant improvement after approximately one year of conventional treatment and subsequently opted for individualized homeopathic treatment at Dr. Singhal Homeo Clinic.

The first signs of skin-color restoration appeared around the fourth month. Over the following months, the patient reported, and the doctor observed, progressive improvement, with pigmentation gradually returning across the face and hands.

By approximately 30 months, the affected areas were reported and observed to have regained approximately 99% of their natural skin tone.

The patient then remained under periodic dosing for another six months before entering the current six-month medicine-free follow-up period.

The medicine-free follow-up is still ongoing. Therefore, the long-term stability of the reported improvement and absence of recurrence remain to be assessed after completion of the planned follow-up.
